Drinking Coffee in Horrific Style with Sourpuss

I don't commute very often (I work at home but keep an office in the city) so I don't own any travel tumblers. I'm thinking I should get one for the upcoming cold autumn drives into the office. Here's some from Sourpuss that are tempting me:

Steampunk enthusiasts might enjoy drinking coffee from this Kraken tumbler. Perhaps spiked with a bit of Kraken Rum on cold days when one isn't driving or supervising small children?

I love the bratty look on the face of this Frankengal tumbler!

Here's a slightly spooky, adorable sugar skull tumbler. Not very dark, I admit!

The sugar skull tumbler also comes in blue.

Enjoy your coffee (or perhaps hot tea!)

A Few Lovely Dark Mini Top Hats from Imperial Fiddlesticks

I'm fascinated (get it? ha) by these mini top-hats from the Imperial Fiddlesticks shop. (It's located in Stockholm, Sweden). Many of you might not find them unique enough to pay international shipping from Sweden, but perhaps some of you live in Europe or even Sweden and don't mind the shipping charges for these lovely hats.

This purple striped mini top hat is called "Bernadotte Mini Wonky." It's made from silk and wire.

The "Zombie Revolution" mini top hat features a faux "wound" and a velvet ribbon.

"Cranberry Woods" is a perfect hat for autumn. Love jewel tones!

"The Magpie's Sorrow" might be perfect for plaid-wearing corpgoths.

My favorite mini top hat here is this cemetery themed "Necropolis" hat.

Enjoy browsing the other offerings from Imperial Fiddlesticks!

Too Fast's New Off the Shoulder Tops

Soon it will be too cold to bare our shoulders - autumn is coming! But for now, it's still warm enough to wear some of Too Fast's newest looks.

This is Too Fast's "Spiderwebs" Foxy Off the Shoulder top. I would totally get this if I could handle strapless bras, sigh.

Love that Too Fast had the guts to feature a cemetery on this off-the-shoulder top!

Here's a top with bats and moons - nice and witchy!

October can't come soon enough!

Sourpuss's New Soft Blankets for Halloween and Autumn

I know I'm not the only one sitting here sweating, frantically drinking iced tea and looking forward to the arrival of autumn. Anticipating chilly nights ahead, I'm shopping around for some cozy throw blankets. Here's a few tempting ones from Sourpuss!

The "Black Cats" blanket is perfect for cuddling up with your pets whilst watching horror movies. (Perhaps no cuddling should you own a dog and happen to be watching "Cujo" together!)

I find Sourpuss's Skull blanket to be quite versatile. You can use it in autumn, at Easter, on your birthday, on the way to a funeral, etc!

The "Batt Attack" blanket features black bats on a red background. How perfect for Christmastime!

If your tastes run more to steampunk, the Octopus blanket might fit nicely into your home decor.

Happy cuddling!

New Children's Book: How to Make Friends with a Ghost

This quirky picture book was written with kids aged 4-8 in mind. It's Rebecca Green's debut picture book and I think it's just darling. You can read the author's blog post about how the book came about.

Kirkus Reviews sniffs a bit that "Both she and the ghost are paper-white with pink cheeks, and the palette is limited to black, white, gray, brown, a rusty orange, and a pinkish red." Well, that's what I like about the illustrations in this book!

"How to Make Friends with a Ghost" comes out September 5.

Here's the "How to Make Friends with a Ghost" book trailer:

Here's what Kirkus Reviews had to say in full.

Might be a nice semi-cheerful yet still dark book to add to a child's library!

New Dark Art book by Junko Mizuno: Ravina the Witch

Even if you aren't regularly a fan of Junko Mizuno, I thought you might like to check out the new Ravina the Witch? book anyway.

"Once upon a time, on the coast of a tiny European country, there was an enormous cloud of toxic fumes. In this cloud lived a young girl named Ravina. And she is about to be unleashed on the human world!"

"A bewitching and beautiful tale of an orphan girl who was raised by crows in a trash heap. One day, a dying witch gifts her with a mysterious magic wand and her life changes forever! Now, the human world is hers to play with... Or will this land of fear and corruption prove too much for the fledgling witch? In a time of witch hunts, Ravina must have her wits about her!"

I can't wait to read this lavishly illustrated and curious book!

Hilarious Feisty Pets Plush Toys

I might have a dorky sense of humor, but I'm laughing so hard at this concept! Feisty Pets turn from sweet, slightly moping little pets into grimacing fierce wild animals when you squeeze them!

Some sort of mechanism inside makes their eyes and eyebrows change, mouths open and grimace, baring their teeth.

Here's a hilarious Feisty Pets demo video from Vat19.com:

My favorite toy is probably Glenda Glitterpoop the feisty unicorn!

I think several of my younger relatives are going to ind a Feisty pet plush toy under their Christmas tree this year. Or perhaps I will plop a couple into my nephews' trick-or-treat bags!

Pier 1's Darling El Dia De Los Muertos Cat Pillow

I wanted to show you this cute cat pillow from Pier 1 Imports. Sadly, they didn't do a very exciting job of photographing it.

Sold only online, this El Dia de Los Muertos themed pillow is already on sale! Maybe they decided it wasn't selling fast enough for their liking? Who cares! Our good fortune.

Ghost Stories and Victorian Sci-Fi Tales to While Away Long Hot Dreary Summer Nights

If you're looking for some compelling and slightly chilling short stories to enjoy on your travels this summer, here are three new books to consider adding to your library or ereader device.

Ghostly Tales: Spine-Chilling Stories of the Victorian Age is a lovely hardcover compilation of classic stories by Victorian-era authors including M.R. James, Elizabeth Gaskell, Robert Louis Stevenson, F. Marion Crawford, and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. You've probably read most of these stories already if you're a fan of the classic ghost story genre; but if not, here's a nice volume to slip into your suitcase for your Labor Day Weekend or end-of-summer travels. Great reads for pulling through while we anticipate autumn!

Great American Ghost Stories: Lyons Press Classics is another compilation of ghostly classics. Authors include Edith Wharton, Nathaniel Hawthorne, Mark Twain, O. Henry, Bret Harte, and even Harriet Beecher Stowe. (It barely needs mentioning that of course an Edgar Allan Poe short story is included here).

Frankenstein Dreams: A Connoisseur's Collection of Victorian Science Fiction arrives September 5, 2017. The author, Michael Sims, "has gathered many of the very finest stories, some by classic writers such as Jules Verne, Mary Shelley, and H.G. Wells, but many that will surprise general readers." The book contains twenty stories.

Enjoy your sci-fi and ghostly reading!

Voodoo Vixen's Retro Cat Clothes

I wanted to show you these cool cat-themed retro dresses from Voodoo Vixen. I'm starting to think about my in-between summer and fall wardrobe, and might pick up a dress or two myself.

The Katniss wiggle dress might be perfect for Corpgoths and office professionals.

Voodoo Vixen also offers the Katniss print in a skater dress style.

This is the Katniss Blue Raining Cats skater dress. I love the trim on the neckline and sleeves!

Here's the blue cats dress as a wiggle dress.

You can also get the blue cats print in a skirt.

Around the holiday season, you might like wearing the Raining Cats dress in red.

The last cat-themed Voodoo Vixen dress I wanted to show you is their dark Clockwork Cats flare dress. Great for autumn!

Adorable New X-Files Picture Book for Kids

Back in the 1990s almost all my goth friends just happened to be obsessed with the X-Files TV show. The show wasn't gothic or even very horror-genre, we just liked it a lot and I remember going to quite a few X-files viewing parties.

Just in case you have kids or (dare I say it, grandkids!) who might be coaxed into liking the show, check out this cute X-Files picture book!

The darling illustrations are by Kim Smith. Mulder and Scully are depicted as young kids camping out in a backyard.

Quirk Books will publish this book on August 15. Grab your copy on Amazon or via Barnes and Noble.

The truth is still out there, I guess.
