Haunting Dark Art by Sophia Rapata

I'm really enjoying browsing through Sophia Rapata's Etsy store today.

Most of what's for sale here are prints, but there are a few originals, such as this marvelous "A Happy Shadow" pastel and graphite painting.

"Portrait of a Sad Girl" is mesmerizing and haunting.

This print is called "Witch Flesh & Her Familiar."

I really like the adorable little girl depicted in "Woodland Wanderer."

"Ghost Vamp" is a bit disturbing - I assume it was intended that way.

I suspect several of you will enjoy perusing "Bat Lady Contraption."

Not all here is morose - the artist has given herself permission to create a few happier pieces, such as "Flower Field Dance." (Love the striped stockings!)

If pressed to choose just one favorite, I'll say it's "Twin Sisters."

New Dark Children's Fiction for Autumn: The Gravedigger's Son

Patrick Moody's new children's book, The Gravedigger's Son came out yesterday. It's meant for 8-12 year olds, but I intend to read it too, eldergoth though I am!

“A Digger must not refuse a request from the Dead." —Rule Five of the Gravedigger’s Code

Ian Fossor is last in a long line of Gravediggers. It’s his family’s job to bury the dead and then, when Called by the dearly departed, to help settle the worries that linger beyond the grave so spirits can find peace in the Beyond. But Ian doesn’t want to help the dead—he wants to be a Healer and help the living. Such a wish is, of course, selfish and impossible. Fossors are Gravediggers. So he reluctantly continues his training under the careful watch of his undead mentor, hoping every day that he’s never Called and carefully avoiding the path that leads into the forbidden woods bordering the cemetery.

How can anyone resist an intriguing premise like that?

Artificial Human Skull Firelogs for Creepy Gas Fire Pits

Imagine going over to someone's house and seeing what looks like a human skull burning in their gas fireplace or fire pit! Wouldn't that utterly creep you out, perhaps send you fleeing towards the door? These skull logs are fairly expensive, but should last quite a long time.

Happy burning!

Black Cat Noir Dishes from Omniware

As the weather is growing colder again, I'm drinking much more hot tea. Perhaps I will treat myself to these adorable Cat Noir tea things from Omniware.

The Cat Noir line includes a 24 ounce teapot, a set of four mugs, and a "tea caddy infuser holder" which is just a fancy way of saying "a plate."

New Plush Walking Dead Itty Bittys from Hallmark of All Places

I really do try not to clutter up my house with toys. But come on! The Walking Dead is my very favorite TV show of all time (next to the Battlestar Galactica reboot).

I simply must own these adorable Walking Dead Itty Bittys. They're tiny, after all - they can't possibly take up too much room on my desk or on a display shelf, right?

The boxed set includes Screwdriver Eye Walker, Michonne, Daryl Dixon, and Rick Grimes.

I'm actually quite surprised that Hallmark created these. I guess it's not my grandmother's greeting card store anymore!

For now, the best place to buy Walking Dead Itty Bittys online is eBay.

Happy shopping!
